课程简介：本课程是通识教育课程，是借助经典英文作品及其蕴含的优秀西方文化，以提高学生的文化素养为目的，兼顾高雅情趣和大众口味，努力做到雅俗共赏，通过原汁原味的经典英文作品，指导、帮助学生理解经典作品，培养朗读技巧；拓展西方文化，体验人文情怀；丰富思想内涵，欣赏语言艺术；领略历史风云，汲取知识精华；感知真知灼见，感受人格魅力；感悟人生真谛，陶冶道德情操。
